SUGGESTION FOR COURT APPEARANCE
If your charge requires  a mandatory appearance  before the judge, you  may want to consider doing the following prior to coming to court.

1.  For a "no  insurance or no proof of insurance" citation , please bring a letter from your insurance compay showing proof of insurance on the date of the citation.

2.   For a "revoked or suspended" drivers license, please bring a certified documentation from Driver's License Division stating that your license was not revoked or suspended on the date of the citation.

3. For a "fail to register" citation , bring a copy of the current vehicle registration.

You will be required to fill out a "Rights" form when you arrive at court. You may obtain this "Rights" form from the court web site or from court.  We recommend that you print a copy of the "Rights" form and fill it out prior to coming to court. This will speed the processing time at court.

When you arrive at court, please print your name on the roll.  The court clerk will call you in the order that you signed in. First come first seved.

Lehi City Justice Court

The mission of the Court is to sit in judgment of criminal and common law proceedings, to resolve legal issues, and to insure justice; thereby improving the quality of life in the community.

General Information

Court Appearance:  


 Most criminal code violations require an appearance before a judge.  The state law manates that a defendant MUST contact the court between 5 and 14 days after the citation is issued to schedule a court date. Three exceptions to this are: (1) Open container violations (2) Doing business without a license and , (3) Speeding 1-10 miles over the limit.  These violations can be handled without a court  appearance. If you are required to appear before the judge, PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE, COURTSTARTS ON TIME.

FIT-IT TICKET POLICY-Fit it tickets may be dismissed if an law enforcement agency  has inspected the vehicle for compliance.  An Officer or Trooper will sign off on the item and affix a sticker to the defendent's citation which may be given to the Court Clerk for dismissal.

Small Claims: The Small Claims Court of Lehi is designated to settle legal issues and problems arising from contractual or service disputes or other claims which do not exceed the sum of $10,000.  Small Claims Court allows an individual or business to be compensated by a party who has not performed according to an agreement /contract  or who has committed some wrongdoing in reguards to contract.  Form for filing  small claims are available at the court house or on the web at http:www.utcourts.gov/resources.

Paying Fines

Checks/Money Orders: 

The Court  accepts personal checks and money orders.  Make checks payabe to LEHI JUSTICE COURT. Please make sure you print your case number or citation number on the check to ensure credit is applied  to your account.  Return checks will be charged  a mandatory $20.00 service charge. Any return check not cleared within 30 days results in an additional Class "C" misdemeanor charge and the issuance of a cash-only  Warrant.of arrest.  To clear a return check, the payment must be in cash, certified check, money order, or a approved credit card.

Credit/Debit Cards: We accept debit/credit cards from American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Cash: Cash is only accepted when paying in person. When mailing a payment, PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH!

Payment Box: There is a payment box located at the front door of the court building for your convenience. Payments are not accepted at the window after 4:30p.m.. Payment s put in the box afer 4:30 p.m. will be credited the next business day.

Speeding 11-15 mph over $115
Speeding 16-20 mph over $165
Stopping violation $90
Improper lane or passing $90
Following too close $90
Failure to register $40

Other Citation Information

The State of Utah mandates that a defendant must contact the court no less that 5 working days or more than 14 calendar days after receiving the citation. A "fail to appear" warrant may be issued, a fee added and your driver's license suspended if defendant in not in compliance with this law
